Banff is one of those vacation spots that looks like a postcard come to life. Whether you are looking for an adventure or looking to escape the hustle and bustle, there is something for everyone in Banff. There are two peak seasons for travelers: summer (late June – August) and winter (December – February). The most ideal times to visit are between October & November or May & June. How do you get to this natural wonder? A direct flight into Calgary International Airport and a scenic 90 minute drive will bring you right to Banff and all it’s beauty. If you don’t feel like renting a car and paying the fee to get into Banff, there are multiple shuttle services to and from the airport.  

Don’t Miss: 

• Lake Louise – This is one of the most famous lakes in the world, and one look you will understand why! But with it’s popularity on social media comes added crowds. People flock from all over to kayak, hike, brunch at the Chateau across the lake, or simply take in the view. Pro tip: to cut down on the number of tourists, we recommend getting an early start (5:00-6:30am) to avoid the crowds. If you are not a morning person, the lake and most of Banff tends to slow down again right before sunset.

• Lake Moraine – This lake is a little less crowded than Lake Louise, but no less jaw-dropping! It is easily accessible and like Lake Louise the best time to to is around sunrise when there are less crowds. Definitely bring a light sweater though as Canadian mornings can be a little chilly on the lakes.

• Johnston Canyon – With the variety of lakes to explore in Banff, Johnston Canyon is a great change of pace! There are two hikes – Upper Falls Hike and Lower Falls Hike. Both are absolutely beautiful and lead to the most amazing view of the streams, canyon, and waterfall!

• Banff Highway 1 – This road is like driving through a postcard. Literally. Every twist and turn brings you to another beautiful view of the mountains, valley, lakes, and streams that cradle Highway 1.
