There’s something that happens during the cold winter months that stirs our sense of wanderlust…at least it does for me! I know that I’m not alone and because of this, we wanted to provide a list of unique options that you can escape to this winter.

Tulum, Mexico: I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again (heck, I will sing it from the rooftops) that Tulum is one of my favorite places (if not THE favorite place) in the entire world. If you like lounging on the beach, drinking out of pineapples, riding bikes surrounded by nature and ruins, eating in restaurants canopied by the jungle and rattan lanterns, yoga, incredible food options, and setting the reset button on the hustle and bustle of every day….don’t walk…RUN to Tulum. However, make sure to check out hotel options ahead of time because the accommodations can require some budgeting and the hotels fill up quickly in the peak season (November – March).

Asheville, North Carolina: Asheville is home to the oh-so-famous and jaw dropping Biltmore Estate. This property is particularly incredible around Christmas time when the grounds are transformed into a mystical winter wonderland. The best part? The tour tickets come with a free wine tasting! Be aware that Airbnb and vacation rentals are losing their grip on this area due to some strict regulations that just passed about short term leases. Your best bet will be to find a cozy bed & breakfast to snuggle into for a few nights.

Top pick of where to stay: Chestnut Street Inn

Palmetto, Georgia: Hear me out on this one….Palmetto, Georgia has a hidden gem of a neighborhood called Serenbe. Tucked away in the Chattahoochee Hills, Serenbe is a perfect getaway for anyone looking for peace and quite. This spot is great for families with kids due to the farm, in-ground trampoline, farmers market, larger than life chess board, and open spaces to wander. There is one restaurant, spa, and adorable coffee shop for morning jaunts…all the necessities!

Top pick of where to stay: Inn at Serenbe or this Airbnb for bigger groups

Telluride, Colorado: If you want to snuggle up with a hot chocolate and your special someone, this is the place for you. Instead of fending off the crowds in the typical Colorado ski towns, head on over to this hideaway. With easy public transportation, skiing, hiking trails, waterfalls and mountain vistas, you are sure to find yourself refreshed.

Scottsdale, Arizona: Scottsdale is perfect for a golf lover or someone looking for a good night on the town. Scottsdale may not be getting all the attention that it should for so much that it has to offer. With as much IT and real estate business that is moving to this area, the restaurants are following in droves. Spas? Yep. They’ve got those too…so grab your crew and book your flights for a good time!

San Juan, Puerto Rico: This one seems pretty obvious. The weather is gorgeous, the water is clear, there are great food options, including gorgeous fresh fruits. This isn’t just a vacation spot though. There is plenty of local culture to experience and history to see if you are wanting to venture outside your hotel walls. The biggest plus is the vicinity to the southeast part of the U.S., making it very easy to get to for many folks.
