Travel Advisor, Jamie Frantz, spent a week in Park City, Utah this past summer. She explored Park City & Deer Valley and visited a few resorts in both towns. Park City is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream whether it be mountain biking in the summer or skiing in the winter. Park City is an excellent vacation spot when looking to enjoy the beautiful mountain cascades in Utah.
Where to Stay:
Park City and Deer Valley are 10 minutes away from one another and they both have a handful of luxury to moderate hotel accommodations that can cater from honeymooners to large families. Jamie had the pleasure of doing a site visit at Montage Deer Valley and it did not disappoint. An authentic yet refined mountain retreat located less than five minutes from Park City’s celebrated Main Street, and an easy 40‐minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport, Montage Deer Valley offers unrivaled ski‐in / ski‐out access to one of America’s best ski resorts. This resort offers 220 guest rooms and 1-4 bedroom residences that make it a perfect fit for the multi-generational vacations.
It includes the largest spa in Utah, five inspired dining options including a pub with its own bowling alley, along with amazing year‐round activities including hiking, mountain biking, golf, outdoor concerts, and fly‐fishing. Montage Deer Valley also has the most adorable kid’s club that can keep the little ones busy if you’d like to escape to the spa or enjoy a cocktail at one of the many bars available. You can’t forget about the Après Lounge, the bar set at the bottom of Empire Village near the gondola, which is an experience sponsored by Veuve Clicquot. Designed to pair perfectly with the Champagne, The Après Lounge features a menu with select gourmet bites including caviar, local cheeses & charcuterie, smoked fish and more. This resort is truly a one of a kind destination for all.
What She Did:
During the summer, Park City has an incredible amount of activities for all ages. Jamie and her family enjoyed visiting the Utah Olympic Park. It’s a great combination of educational, entertaining, and thrill that the whole family can enjoy. The most popular options are zip lines, extreme tubing, bobsledding, mountain coasters, and ropes courses. For activities suited well to younger kids, head to the Discovery area down the hill. Here you’ll find the playground, beginner ropes course, scenic chairlift, and perhaps most importantly a snack shop that sells ice cream!
In addition, Park City & Deer Valley can offer numerous outdoor activities like fly-fishing, soaring above the mountains in a hot air balloon, exploring the mountain on foot, bike, or horseback, train rides around the mountain terrain or playing on the many beautiful golf courses. You can’t forget about Park City Adventure Park that offers alpine slides, mountain coaster, trampoline launchers, mini golf course, gem panning, disc golf, and so much more!
Jamie and her family even stopped by a dairy farm for a tour of the rural farming life near Park City. After the tour, they were able to have a true farm to table experience enjoying grilled cheeses and ice cream made on site!
The Park Silly Sunday Market is an eco-friendly, open-air market and street festival that takes place each Sunday, between June – September, on Historic Main Street. It is a treasure box that features unique and eclectic local and regional arts and crafts, music and performance art, antiques, imports and one-of-a-kind finds, delicious gourmet foods, and farmers market fruits and vegetables. Must do when visiting Park City in the summer!
Why she loves Park City:
Park City is only a 30-40 minute drive from Salt Lake City Airport. Unlike other skiing towns that can take 1-3 hours to reach, it is a quick and beautiful drive to reach these mountains. Park City also offers “Main Street” which is a great downtown area full of shops, dining, and restaurants that is serviced by a free trolley. This historic mining town has it all whether it is an adventurous summer or winter getaway or a relaxing, slow-paced winter vacation to take in the sights. Park City should be your next vacation!
