A Western Wonderland for Families
Explorateur advisor, Ashley Darnall, recently had the pleasure of visiting Jackson Hole, Wyoming with her two daughters and family, and let me tell you, it was a trip filled with adventure and awe-inspiring beauty!
Where to Stay
What They Did
Our days were packed with thrilling activities suitable for everyone in the family!
- Shootout in the Square: A fun Old West reenactment in the heart of Jackson Hole. It’s at 6 pm every night. Only a 15-minute show so catch it before dinner one evening.
- Jenny and String Lake in Grand Teton National Park: Venture to these lakes with views that you don’t want to miss. The water is so clear that you can even see your toes. Bring a picnic basket, sunscreen, and some floats or stand-up paddle boards for water activities.
- White Water Rafting or Scenic Float Trip on Snake River: Ashley opted for the scenic float due to the ages of her kids, but if your kids are old enough, the white water rafting is exhilarating! You’ll create memories that last a lifetime.
- Jackson Hole Rodeo: Authentic cowboy fun. They even had a time in the rodeo where they let the kids go into the arena for a sheep chase!
- Cowboy Coaster and Alpine Slide at Snow King: These are fun rides for the kids to ride with adults down the mountain. Super fun and great views!
- Snow King Activities: Spectacular vistas and hiking opportunities. You can zipline, do a ropes course, or even visit the new planetarium.
- Million Dollar Cowboy Bar: This one is for the adults. Strict 21+ age limit. But sneak away for a quick beverage at this Iconic Western bar for wonderful live music, dancing, and a game of pool.
- Visit the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort: Take the gondola up for stunning panoramic views of the Tetons and Jackson Hole. Activities for the kids like trampoline jumping and a ropes course. Mountain biking during the summer is super popular.
- Shopping and Eating in the Square: Simply walk around the square. Take a picture at the antlers arch. Grab a bite to eat with all the delicious local cuisine. Shop around at adorable boutiques and shops. Get a custom hat made. Options are endless!
- Jackson Hole Playhouse: You’ll get a taste of the Old West in this entertaining live show with dinner served. The talent is amazing, and you’ll leave with a smile on your face! The performances change based on season, so check out the website for more information.
Best Time to Visit
For the ultimate experience, we recommend visiting Jackson Hole in the summer or winter seasons. Avoid the in-between seasons (September to Thanksgiving and April to May) when some activities and mountain facilities may be closed.
