Things to do:

Explore the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. This is one of St. Petersburg most iconic landmarks despite being barely a century old. The interior is covered with colorful mosaics that was meant to pay tribute to Alexander III’s late father. However, after the Soviet government closed the church, it is now a museum where you can buy tickets to explore.

Check out the Hermitage Museum. Another St. Petersburg landmark, the Heritage Museum is one of the oldest museums in the world. Located inside the famous Winter Palace, this museum stretches over 1,500 rooms and contains ancient gold and artwork from many of the greats – Van Gogh, da Vinci, etc.

Take a canal tour. Like many port cities in Europe, St. Petersburg is made up of hundreds of canals with over 800 bridges. This is a great tour to see the city from another angle.

See a show at the Mariinsky Theater. Russia is known around the world for it’s fabulous opera and ballet productions! The best place to catch a show while in St. Petersburg is the Mariinsky Theater, which is beautifully designed. Be sure to book your tickets in advance to ensure you are able to catch a performance during your stay.
